About Diamonds

Instead of hundreds of years — a few months. Instead of explosions and conflicts — clean technological processes. Lab-grown diamonds are a creation of nature, perfected by man, for the sake of preserving the planet

The trend towards conscious consumption has captured all spheres of life. We prefer a capsule wardrobe, ecological products, develop alternative ways of obtaining energy, but often do not think that there is also a conscious alternative in the field of jewelry.

For the SOLO for diamonds brand, we chose lab-grown diamonds. They are absolutely identical to those extracted from the Earth, but they do not cause wars in the places of deposits and do not destroy ecosystems - that is, they are ethical. The only difference between mined and lab-grown diamonds is their origin.

HPHT technology is used to grow diamonds — it reproduces the natural geological conditions that occur at a depth of 140-160 km in the Earth's mantle. This is a powerful combination of extreme pressure (35–50 kilobars) and very high temperatures (1100–1300 C°).

As a result of this process, lab-grown diamonds have the same crystal structure, chemical composition, and similar optical-mechanical properties as mined diamonds.

4 С

All faceted diamonds undergo an expert evaluation according to the "4C" system developed by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), and experts around the world are familiar with this system. Several parameters affect the price of a diamond, namely: the first C is Color, the second C is Clarity, and the third C is Carat weight. Finally, the fourth C — Cut quality.

The set of these parameters is the basis of the classification of diamonds, which is why it is called "4C". The higher the "4C" indicators, the more expensive the stone.

1 C • color

Everything is decided here by the nature and amount of impurities. The color of most diamonds appears due to the presence of locally concentrated nitrogen atoms.

Such stones are painted in a color range from the complete absence of color to brown-yellow (this includes pale yellowish, greenish yellow and other shades). If the diamond has a blue color, then we can talk about the presence of boron atoms. Impurities of radioactive elements (uranium and thorium) give the stones a green color.

2 C • clarity

If you take a microscope with a very high magnification, then in any diamond without exception you can see inclusions or inclusions - traces of natural forces that formed the stone.

That is why when assessing the purity of a diamond, they are limited to a tenfold increase. If no extraneous formations are visible in a diamond when magnified ten times, it is considered pure.

3 C • WEIGHT IN CARATS

The unit of measurement of the weight of diamonds and diamonds is the carat (ct). One carat is 0.2 grams. When evaluating large diamonds, their clarity and color are important. Small stones are evaluated by weight, not by their individual qualities. Small diamonds are considered to have a mass of up to 0.29 carats, medium - from 0.3 to 0.99 carats and large - 1 carat and more. The figure shows the approximate weight-to-size ratio for a perfect round diamond.

4 C • LIMITATION

Its cutting is of great importance in determining the value of a stone. The quality of the cut is determined by how well the cutter did his job, that is, whether the craftsman managed to achieve the brilliance of the stone. The brilliance of a diamond depends on how well the surface of the diamond is polished, as well as whether it was possible to make the stone symmetrical and even. It is these parameters that are evaluated in the fourth C "quality of cutting". They evaluate the "proportions", "symmetry" and "polishing" of the diamond. All these characteristics affect the strength of the diamond's brilliance.
