The hryvnia is one of the oldest currencies in the world, mentioned as far back as the chronicles of the 9th century. The name originates from the word "hryvna," which meant neck jewelry in Kyiv Rus.
SOLO for Diamonds decided to unite important historical references and created pendants in the shape of the currency of Kyiv Rus and independent Ukraine — the hryvnia. HERITAGE pendants carry a deep symbolic meaning and serve as both jewelry and a reminder of Ukraine's great history.
In Ukrainian lands, the minting of their own currency, gold and silver coins, was initiated by the grand duke of Kyiv Volodymyr the Great (980–1015). These coins are the oldest extant documents with an image of the trident, a symbol used by Kyiv leaders. The coin's obverse depicts the grand duke seated on a throne, and the reverse depicts the trident. These same symbolic signs can be seen on the new SOLO for Diamonds pendants. The HERITAGE pendant is available in two colors: silver and gold-plated.
